Music Video Production
Every year SAIT’s Film & Video Production program produces a music video where they look to feature a local Calgary band with a custom made video that’s written, shot, edited and produced by students in our two-year diploma program. The production is crewed by a team of 5-20 second year students and shot with state of the art cameras (either 4K digital or 35mm film) and equipment. Music videos vary in concept depending on the song chosen, but usually feature a performance component that will feature the artist/band themselves in addition to a higher concept dramatic component with additional actors and sets. When completed, the artist will receive a copy of the video. SAIT will retain copyright to the music video itself, but the artist has a license to use the video for their promotion in perpetuity. SAIT students may use the video or a portion thereof for their portfolio.
If you are interested in applying, please click "Apply" through Stagehnd and our students will look through the submissions and find the artist and song that most connects with them, and the selected project will be determined by the department. Depending on the submissions, we may be able to produce more than one music video and will reach out to all selected artists to make sure everything will work out.
