About
Suzanne de Bussac is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Calgary. She has been making recordings and performing her music on stages across Canada for over 25 years.
“Suzanne de Bussac serves up an intriguing mix of blues, alternative, jazz and world music in her songs, leaning on her classical training” said Eric Volmers in his recent pick for the Calgary Herald Weekender. Her live performances offer up a combination of high-energy full band concerts mixed with a goodly dose of intimate solo, duo and trio shows. Her musical life in Toronto found her cresting stages of the Cameron House, Rivoli, C’est What, Graffitis, and the Rex. Her Calgary adventures have taken her to the Ship and Anchor, the Blues Can (solo), Mikeys on 12th, Skirtsafire Festival, and an ongoing monthly residency at the Asylum For Art. de Bussac has released two full length albums; The Valley of Baca-2000, and Shiver Stories – 2018, plus and a series singles and videos. Her new EP WATER releases on May 29, highlighting Mental Health Awareness Month and exploring the benefits of music, movement, and time in nature as healing tools and coping strategies. "Anyone who can appreciate the fine art of songwriting, accompanied by fleeting moments of Kate Bush brilliance should become intimate with the music of Suzanne de Bussac" - Exclaim! Magazine "Every once in a while, you come across music that’s totally uncategorizable but entirely enchanting. That’s what you’ll find on de Bussac's new album Shiver Stories. Ignore it at your peril." Alan Cross - The HIstory of New Music / A Journal of Musical Things
