| THE EXISTence |: Indie Rock Revivalists Igniting Edmonton and Beyond
Forged in the heart of Edmonton's music scene in 2022, | THE EXISTence | is more than just a band – it's a sonic force fueled by raw talent, undeniable energy, and a mission to make a difference. Fronted by visionary songwriter Sans Bliss (aka Ian Robertson), this indie rock revival group has spent the last three years crafting a dynamic catalog of 11+ original tracks and electrifying audiences at iconic venues across the city. From intimate pubs like Lone Pine Distilling to sprawling festivals in Jackie Parker Park, and even the hallowed halls of Edmonton City Hall, they've brought their explosive live show to every corner of the city.
But | THE EXISTence | isn't confined to the stage. Their digital presence is a testament to their DIY spirit, connecting with fans across the globe through Linktree, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Bandcamp. They've harnessed this online community to fuel their creative fire, running successful fundraising campaigns to support their musical endeavors.
Their journey is etched in a series of scorching releases: 'Burning Flames' and 'Half Close, Half Near' ignited the airwaves, followed by the 'Behind Spines and Lifelines' EPs (Vol. 1 in June '24 and Vol. 2 in February '25), showcasing their evolving sound and lyrical depth. With momentum surging, they're set to unleash their full-length LP, 'Behind Spines and Lifelines,' on October 11, 2025. This modern masterpiece, co-produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered with Edmonton's sonic wizard James Seabrook of Two Bodies of Water Productions, promises to be a defining moment in their musical evolution.
Beyond the music, | THE EXISTence | is driven by a desire to create positive change. They've partnered with The Hoarding Disorder Foundation of Alberta, using their platform to raise awareness about mental health and support those affected by this often-overlooked condition.
With a lineup as dynamic as their sound, | THE EXISTence | features Sarah Woodbridge on lead vocals, Bex Cannon on harmonies, Sans Bliss on guitars, lyrics and sonic composition, Kegan Proulx on bass and backing vocals, Curtis Stang on drums, and Brayden O'Donoghue on percussion. This is a band with the tunes, the drive, and the heart to leave a lasting mark on the indie rock landscape. Keep your ears peeled – the best is yet to come.
