About
Loud in the Pines is an Edmonton-based indie-folk duo, delivering heartfelt songs with captivating harmonies, reminding listeners of the people and places they hold close.
Loud in the Pines is Spencer Taubner (vocals, guitar) and Kelin Flanagan (vocals, keys). With warm original songs and contemporary folk covers, Loud in the Pines presents thoughtful, cinematic stories brought to life by vocal harmonies and shimmering guitar. They deliver a heartfelt, authentic experience that captivates listeners and invites them into stories of nature and love, longing and learning. A versatile and well-balanced duo, often rounded out with trio and full-band arrangements, they share their genuine love for music and connection with every note.
With influences like Iron & Wine, Aoife O’Donovan, and Ocie Elliott, Loud in the Pines are carving out their own place in progressive indie-folk music. Their first record, Every Colour Left, was created with support from the Edmonton Arts Council and received a 2026 Canadian Folk Music Award (Producer of the Year, Ben Plotnick). They have been featured on the CBC, CKUA, and campus radio across the country.
