About
Malissa Rush is a jazz vocalist based in Calgary. She performs fresh interpretations of jazz standards, adding modern nuance and a dash of soul.
Malissa’s love for music began early, shaped by her parents’ eclectic taste. While she explored a wide range of genres including R&B, pop, blues, and electronic music, she eventually found her true passion in jazz, drawing inspiration from legends like Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, and Sarah Vaughan, and modern artists such as Diana Krall, Eva Cassidy, and Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox.
Her performance journey began in musical theatre, but after stepping away from singing for several years, she rediscovered her voice through Singsana’s adult vocal group, The Extremities, and Viviane Martin’s jazz workshops. Since then, Malissa has performed in musical productions, jazz showcases, and intimate gigs in Calgary’s local venues.
Today, Malissa is the lead vocalist for the jazz ensemble Eh Train and continues to captivate audiences with her refreshing tone and dynamic stage presence.
