About
A soulful, expressive pianist and singer, Esther's performance is an invitation to slow down, breathe and let the heart settle into the comfort of melody, blending graceful piano with soft vocals.
Esther Ling is an expressive and selfless artist; a Malaysian-Chinese Canadian pianist and soulful composer, most recognized for her poignant songwriting. An expressive balladeer, Esther shares intimate stories through her original songs and favorite jazz/neo-soul covers.
An emerging solo artist marked by her raw honesty, Esther fearlessly experiments beyond typical chord progressions, standard instrumental arrangements and boldly weaves stories of true people in her songwriting.
Her artistry lives in the small details, the tenderness of a held note, the honesty woven into each lyric, the way her piano seems to speak even before she sings.
Her debut single, “Pink Walls”, brought a profound message on domestic violence; it was featured on CBC Radio, CKUA Radio, independent radio stations worldwide, and used by women shelter organizations in domestic violence campaigns across USA and Canada.
Her debut children's song, "Cheeky Wind" is the winning song of the 2025 Grande Prairie Boys Choir Songwriting Competition and her first dive into choral composition, of which was premiered by the Grande Prairie Boys Choir, receiving local acclaim for its charm and creativity.
Esther continues to independently write, produce and release music, sharing intimate stories through the gift of song -- hoping that her listeners can find a vestige of the healing and connection that music is for her.
She was the resident pianist with the Grande Prairie Music Society Jazz Ensemble (2023), Peace Region Girls Choir (2022), Hythe Community Choir (2024) and supports various music schools, vocalists and instrumentalists, bands as an accompanist/keyboardist.
