The Maude Fortier Quartet is a young voice from Montreal formed of like-minded individuals performing a mix of original music, as well as faithful renditions of jazz standards.
Maude Fortier is a saxophonist and composer emerging as a distinctive voice on the Montreal jazz scene. A graduate of McGill University with distinction, she studied with Camille Thurman, Jean-Michel Pilc, Rémi Bolduc, and Frank Lozano.Leader of her quartet for the past four years, Maude is also an active contributor to the local jazz community, having organized jam sessions downtown Montreal. She has performed with acclaimed artists such as Ira Coleman, Darrell Green, and Kevin Dean, and was recently featured in DownBeat magazine for her work with the McGill Vocal Jazz Conglomerate. Her music bridges jazz tradition and modern sensibilities, combining expressive lyricism with a fresh, contemporary sound.
