About
Selva Espiral is a Colombian guitar duo exploring paleo-futurismo—a dialogue between ancestral musical traditions and contemporary experimental guitar through rhythm, texture, and improvisation.
Selva Espiral is a guitar duo formed by César Quevedo Barrero and Daniel Reyes Llinás. Rooted in Colombian musical traditions and contemporary experimental practice, the duo explores a sonic language they describe as paleo-futurismo—a dialogue between ancestral, Indigenous, and pre-Hispanic musical structures and modern guitar techniques.
Their music weaves rhythmic cycles, harmonic tension, extended techniques, alternate tunings, and open-form improvisation into evolving sound worlds that are both visceral and reflective. Drawing inspiration from the legacy of Colombian composer and guitarist Ernesto “Teto” Ocampo, Selva Espiral creates performances that honor cultural memory while pushing the expressive possibilities of the guitar.
Through immersive listening and collaborative exploration, Selva Espiral positions sound as a living practice—bridging past and future, tradition and experimentation, land and imagination.
