About
Dancing at the crossroads of hyperfemininity and garage mechanic, Folk Canada Recording Artist of the Year nominee Sarah Segal-Lazar is Folk Femme Fatale.
Dancing at the crossroads of hyperfemininity and garage mechanic, Sarah Segal-Lazar is Folk Femme Fatale. Nominated for Folk Music Ontario’s 2024 Recording Artist of the Year, Sarah is known for her unforgettable voice, fiery stage presence, and captivating storytelling.
Her debut studio album VALLEYS, produced by Canadian folk luminary Matthew Barber, hit #3 on KOWS in the U.S. and earned airplay on CBC nationwide and SiriusXM.
Sarah has shared stages with Murray Lightburn (The Dears), Daniel James McFadyen, and Alan Merrill (“I Love Rock ’n’ Roll”), and has performed everywhere from soft-seat venues like Montreal's Centaur Theatre to Canadian favourites like Charlottetown's Trailside Music Hall.
Rooted in the storytelling traditions of folk and shaped by the electric energy of the Montreal and Maritimes arts scenes, Sarah and her band fuse folk, rock, blues, and country into a sound entirely their own—it’s folk music that’s unafraid to colour outside the lines.
Sarah’s music has found a home beyond the stage. She’s part of the Library of Congress’ American Folklife Center’s historic archive. With 52 dates in 2024, festival highlights including Granville Green and the Fundy Sea Shanty Festival, and freshly returned from a month-long Australian tour including three shows at Tasmania’s legendary Cygnet Folk Festival, things are just heating up for this Folk Femme Fatale.
