Writing/performing music since '99, brothers Brendan and Trev formed the 3-piece alt-folk rock group Function For Fiction in 2009. Starting as a collection of castaway basement musicians in North Jersey, they found common ground in their appreciation of eclectic music and road trips. During the early years, they ran a luncheonette while moonlighting at clubs and venues on the Lower West Side. More recently performing on the other side of the Hudson, they are showcasing their unique style of music which fuses intricate song structures and thoughtful lyrics. Though incorporating variable time signatures and counterpoint melodies, the songs sound deceptively simple while maintaining unassuming complexities. Function For Fiction blends the various styles of blues, folk, grunge, prog rock, and jazz to create a setlist sure to satiate all different types of music lovers. With high energy and some audience-engaging light banter, Function For Fiction doesn’t just play good music, they put on a good show!
