Stereo 9 is an alternative-fusion rock band formed in Calgary in 2026 by Caleb Alerta and Andrew Sprenger. Becoming friends in middle school, Caleb and Andrew had an instant bond through their shared love of music and guitars; however, Stereo 9’s formation would not come until years later. In grade 9, Andrew discovered the band Dream Theater, skyrocketing his infatuation with mastering guitar. Caleb on the other hand was more interested in the technical side of music production while also developing a love for melodies thanks to his love for Paul McCartney. By moving to Edmonton to study music at MacEwan University, Andrew spent years honing his craft by transcending through the electric guitar while forming a love for fusion sounds, playing long, energetic instrumental rock sets in the Edmonton music scene. Meanwhile, Caleb stayed in Calgary and continued to write and produce music through his solo project Lyre Still, amassing over 200,000 Spotify streams in the course of 2 years. Through these different experiences, Andrew and Caleb became a yin-and-yang as they came together when Andrew finished his music degree, moving back to Calgary. The sound of Stereo 9 is melodic, energetic, and melancholic. As of June 2026, Stereo 9 is hard at work on an EP with the hopes of having it out by August, with a single coming out in July. Stereo 9 is set to play some shows in July of this year, bringing their style and energy to every gig.
