About
Sonido Libre blends the sounds of bebop, bossa nova, funk, and soul, and techniques from jazz improvisation to create an immersive, intimate, and unique live experience.
Sonido Libre is a Calgary-based ensemble born from the city’s vibrant jam session community. The band came together organically through live collaboration and a shared appreciation for soulful and dynamic performances. Bringing in our shared Latin American heritage through songwriting in both Spanish and English, and combining it with the band's bebop, bossa nova, funk and soul influences, Sonido Libre is carving out a unique space in the local music scene.
