Hello Moth has developed a reputation as one of the Alberta’s most innovative performers thanks to his novel hybridization of electronic music and poetic song. Through his unorthodox style, he has achieved success locally and beyond: 2013’s debut album Infinitely Repeated was nominated for Best Electronic Record at the WCMAs, he provided direct support to St. Vincent at Sled Island 2014, performed at TEDxYYC 2015, was dubbed “the weirdest, most underrated, most original and unabashedly true-to-self performer on the Rifflandia lineup, hands down” by Exclaim! in 2016, and was one of the few Canadian artists selected to showcase at the prestigious Great Escape Festival in the UK in 2017. CBC called Hello Moth’s 2016 album, Slave in a Stone, “frenetic, weird and all kinds of exciting … the kind of innovative music-making that keeps the future of Canadian music looking bright.” The video for A Song About Transience won Best Music Video in Alberta at the 2017 Rosie Awards. 2017 also saw the release of EP Nebula Songs, which prompted Canadian Beats to say, “there is such innovation and creativity behind the work of Hello Moth, so much so as to almost creating a new style.”
Beyond the world of his own performance, Hello Moth is also the producer behind the platinum pop hit, Jackpot, which he co-wrote with singer Jocelyn Alice.
