About the artist
“Melyssa Lee: Calgary Singer -Songwriter who weave magic with emotive melodies, soul-stirring vocals and honestly insightful lyrics. Connection through original and cover songs and stories.”
YYC based Melyssa Lee writes music that invokes intrigue and vivid imagery. Her music appeals to the hot and cold sides of the human condition. After experiencing positive success with her debut acoustic EP, her debut album Treasures dropped in May of 2024, joined for the first time by her band “The Education Party”. Together, Melyssa Lee and “The Education Party” express heartfelt lyrics amidst a sonic playground that augments the music’s core. With traditional instruments like violin, mandolin, keys and guitar and percussion, they innovate their sound to approach fresh and modern using Chapman stick, and synth and rock electronic elements. Their approach fuses tone of old and new, unleashing cinematic, orchestral expressions of the human experience. Since the release of “Treasures”, Melyssa Lee and the band have gone on musical adventures across Alberta, including provincial parks, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Brotel Backyard Music Festival and notable YYC venues such as The Prairie Emporium, The King Eddy and the Ship & Anchor. Melyssa Lee’s Album has been played on radio stations across Canada, including CKUA and YYC campus radio CJSW, where “Treasures” landed on the top 10 consistently in the folk category for 5 months post release, and currently sits at #36 on 2024’s top 50 chart. We are flexible and can play solo, duo, trio or full band and have several sets including some recognizable and enjoyable covers.
