About the artist
“Chartier and Checora: A Warm Blend of Americana, Folk, Gospel, and Jazz”
Chartier and Checora are a singer-songwriting duo featuring Bob Chartier and Catherine Checora, who bring harmonizing voices and warm hearts to their performances.
Lately of the musical duo, Cathy & Nobuo, Catherine is a singer-songwriter who plays cello, piano and ukulele. She is influenced by classical, jazz, folk and Americana work.
Bob is a latecomer to the singer-songwriting art. He plays guitar and hums along pretty well. His writing Is heavily influenced by Americana and gospel. He has a passion for live music both as a performer and as an organizer such as with his work founding the Music Mile, Gravity Songwriters Circle and Eldersong.
Bob and Catherine’s songs appeal to all ages, covering various subjects (such as pianos and cats, rivers and trains, diners and hunger, walking and wanting), and almost always accompanied by a good story! Bob's bass voice and Cathy's soprano combine in a distinctive mix, in both original songs and occasional cover tunes. Sometimes there’s whistling! There's some folk, some gospel, and even a taste of jazz!
Audience members may receive a ukulele lesson when Bob takes a break from slaving over his guitar, and they may find that they have accidentally joined the band! Chartier and Checora aim to engage and entertain by bringing their personality, personal art and unique sound to the stage.
