About the artist
“Emerging Alberta folk singer-songwriter inspired by traditional folk, bluegrass, country and all kinds of roots music!”
Ella Eva West is a folk singer-songwriter based in Okotoks, Alberta. She first began writing music in the Yukon in 2025, where she discovered a love for traditional folk and the storytelling at the heart of the genre. After attending her first folk festival in Dawson City, she knew roots music was where she wanted to be.
Ella writes across a range of roots genres, drawing inspiration from bluegrass, country, Americana and even delta blues. Her songs explore love, loss and self-discovery through honest storytelling and the natural world around her.
Since beginning her musical journey, Ella has written a growing collection of original songs, taught herself guitar and begun learning fiddle. She has recently begun performing across Alberta, released a series of live performance videos and received radio play for her live performance of “Lacking Love.” She is currently preparing to make her first studio recordings and begin work on her debut EP.
