About the artist
“Weaving seamlessly between genres and flying across the keyboard is Cam's specialty.”
Cam Buie is a keyboardist, composer, songwriter, session musician, and producer from Calgary, Alberta, who draws from a multitude of diverse musical interests. A lover of all things music, Cam plays piano, synths, guitar, bass, congas, percussion, clarinet, saxophone, and sings vocals.
After completing a degree in Classical Piano performance from the University of Ottawa, Cam toured across the country playing keyboards with the piano-rock trio KÄSE as the primary songwriter and lead vocalist. Cam has since performed all across Canada, and around the world from headlining indie-rock shows at the Roxy in Vancouver, to playing two sold-out nights in the pit-band at the Rialto Theatre in Montreal; a sold-out show with Calgary artists Ruben Young and Kiezsa in downtown San Francisco, and recently performing in Ireland and the UK.
Locally, Cam has played solo headline shows at the King Eddy, Cornerstone Cafe, the Saskatoon Market, the Calgary Farmers Market. In addition, as part of other bands, Cam has played with Noeline Hofmann, Kate Stevens, Alex Hughes, Mariya Stokes, Devin Cooper, Bennett Mitchell, Amelie Patterson, Mike McKenzie, TEREZ, Danny Nix, and many others.
In 2021, Cam released his debut full-length album entitled "What I Wouldn't Do," which featured 9 original tracks that were written, arranged, produced, recorded, and performed by himself. Cam was also the 2024 Musician in Residence at the Calgary Public Library, where he performed across different libraries, showcased his songwriting, and ran workshops about performing and making music with synthesizers. Since 2023, Cam has been one of the organists at the Saddldome, playing the organ for Flames, Wranglers, and Hitmen hockey games.
Of the many highlights working at the National Music Centre, Cam ranks meeting Malcom Cecil (the creator if the TONTO Synthesizer) and having a quick piano-and-upright-bass jam session with him as number one!
